Biography & Metadata

Segue is an electronic live act formed in the early 2000s in Brisbane, Australia, built from the ground up for the club and festival touring circuit. The act featured a cast from a range of established Australian bands, veterans from the 1990s touring schedule who bonded backstage over a shared passion for Acid House and live electronic performance. Members included David Ryan from Superfluid (Creative Vibes), Leo Hede from Statler & Waldorf (Freefall Records) and Kris Swales from D-KO (Sidechain Records), with cameos and studio collaboration with Chris Buckridge from My Ninja Lover (Creative Vibes) and Ryan Dickinson from Bitrok (Creative Vibes). The act was a perennial favourite for live music critics, being a fixture of the "best of" year reviews across the mainstay print and digital publications, as well as a familiar logo on the lineups of the day. And more importantly, the band was a favourite for the club and rave scenes, where they would scale up their live synths and samplers to include full drum kits and instrumentation as the bookings grew larger, culminating in the likes of Big Day Out's iconic Boiler Room, the "you've made it" of Australian dance music identity in that era. Despite a hiatus of some ten years, with members spreading out across the world on a range of projects, the global handbrake of the pandemic saw core members and a host of collaborators heading back to Australia for a lockdown that proved a timely rekindle of creative releases.
