Jenesis

Jeff Remy, also known as Jenesis, is a rap artist, songwriter, recording, and mixing engineer based in Dallas, Texas. Originally from Croix Des Bouquets, Haiti, he spent 12 years there, experiencing the country's beauty before its decline. However, most of Jenesis's formative years were spent in the USA, where he navigated between two cultures - one at home and another at school - by compartmentalizing. He described this as living a double life, spending time with his blood family at home and with his friend group, M.E.A.T.J.A.R.R, which he considered his second family, after school or on weekends. Jenesis discovered his passion for music at the age of 11 while listening to Barikad Crew. Although initially inspired, his passion lay dormant for years following his move to the USA in 2010 due to the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Reflecting on the earthquake, Jenesis recalled feeling like it could have been the end for him. In his own words, he stated, "when I lost my balance during the earthquake, and fell on my back. I really thought that was it, the end." This experience ingrained in him the mindset of living each day as if it were his last. Despite the challenges, Jenesis continued to persevere, using his music as a means of expression and reflection on his journey. Explore more of his story through his music.
