Biography & Metadata

"There is a truth to her voice that veers from unapologetically disturbing to simply sublime. An artist with a profound mastery of genuine magic.” - Nitin Sawhney YVA is the "hyper emotional outpouring" of Newcastle artist, producer and alt-indie songwriter Amy Holford. Her covers EP Don't Miss It released in 2019, with her cover of James Bay's Pink Lemonade amassed millions of streams, before her debut EP, Hype Machine arrived in 2021. Startling in its sprawling scope, the release mapped a broad sonic and thematic landscape. Combining cathartic emotional release in engrossing compositions, her soaring vocals served the drama, cinematic crescendos and fearless introspection YVA has become known for. YVA returned with her second EP in 2023, Delusions of Grandeur and saw performances on Jools Holland, collaborations with Slowlight Quartet on a live recorded album, another stint at the Royal Albert Hall for the fourth time with collaborator Nitin Sawhney and a performance on the West Holts stage at Glastonbury 2024. Hungry for more, with influences such as Radiohead, Bon Iver, Anna Calvi and Chartreuse having a stellar effect on her work, in 2024 she followed the signs and her musical intuition and gathered the best musicians she knew to work on her universally charged debut album: 2026 charts a new course for the Northern-born artist.
