Biography & Metadata

Connor Phillips is a Vancouver Island born songwriter whose music is built the same way he builds everything else: with time, patience, and without shortcuts. Working full-time in the trades while quietly writing and recording, Connor’s debut album, An Honest Day’s Work, took shape over several years in an off-grid cabin he built from leftover job-site materials, salvaged slate from old logging roads, and whatever he could source or scrounge. Drawing from long days on construction sites, weekends exploring logging roads around Port Renfrew, and late nights in local watering holes, Connor writes about the people and places that shape working life on the West Coast. His songs tell stories of good men gone too soon, backroad drives, quiet lessons passed between generations, and the battles carried by people who rarely speak them aloud. Raised on farmland where the saying was, “If everyone does a little, no one has to do a lot,” Connor brings that same mindset to his music. Nothing was rushed or manufactured. The album was built slowly, with intention, by a small circle of friends who approached it like any honest day’s work: show up, put in the effort, and leave something behind worth standing on. For Connor, music isn’t separate from everyday life. It’s a reflection of it.
