Joel Hirsch

At 16 Joel Hirsch was stricken by a rare virus that attacked his inner ear causing severe vertigo. Unable to stand and eat, he was told by doctors there was nothing they could do. He fell into into a deep depression. It was only through his discovery of Paul Van Dyk that his spirits were lifted.  He found a style of music that transported the listener to another place where everyone seemed to live free in that moment.  It was then that he knew this was where he belonged.  As he began to teach himself to DJ, he also experienced a miraculous recovery as his symptoms faded.  Of this experience, Joel says that “music saved my life, and all I have ever wanted to do since is return that favor to the world.” Graduating from Northeastern University with a BS in Music Industry and minor in Recording in 2016, he decided to pursue his dream of being a full-time producer and DJ.  He first reached out to some of his favorite singers, including Christina Novelli, KARRA, and Jennifer Rene, and his first single “Won Me Over” caught the attention of trance megastar Armin van Buuren, who quickly signed it to his A State Of Trance label.
