Jeff Dowd & Barely Breathing

Akron, Ohio Proud! Jeff Dowd & Barely Breathing deliver modern rock with a classic-rock soul—built on solid guitar/bass, driving drums, powerful vocals by Brad Johnson, and songs designed to hit with both energy and emotion. The current sound blends hard rock and blues-rock, creating a style that is muscular, melodic, and unmistakably human. At the center of the band is drummer-songwriter Jeff Dowd, joined by vocalist/lyricist Brad Johnson & guitarist Steve Leafgren who bring the chemistry, dynamics, and musicianship that define the band's recordings. The sound can move from swaggering rock to atmospheric and emotionally charged. Recent releases including “Can’t Find the Words,” “Anymore,” and the upcoming (Oct 16) “Only One” showcase where the band is today:stronger hooks, harder-driving rhythms, and lyrics that leave room for both melody and attitude. “Only One” pushes that sound further, bringing a blues-rock foundation together with a folk/country edge and a dark, swaggering rock feel with Brad's voice front and center. The band's music has earned praise for its songwriting, production, musicianship, and sonic impact, with reviewers describing the recordings as having “big guitar riffs, solid grooves and powerful vocals and production” and calling the band's work “a true sonic masterpiece.” Jeff Dowd & Barely Breathing aren't trying to recreate the past. They're taking everything they've learned along the way and putting it into the rock they want to make right now.
