Biography & Metadata

TUTU TUTU — Tuale Sopacua — is a Moluccan artist, songwriter, producer, and co-founder of RUA DISTRICT, based in the Netherlands. His musical journey began at home, immersed in Indigenous Moluccan songs and traditions, laying the foundation for the artist and multi-instrumentalist he would become. From those early roots, TUTU developed a sound shaped by R&B, Afro, hip-hop, and Melanesian influences. His music is driven by identity, culture, pride, and connection bringing the heritage of Maluku into a contemporary sound. Through his work, TUTU is helping shape what he calls Afro-Maluku: a fusion of African-inspired rhythms and modern influences with the cultural and musical heritage of the Moluccan and wider Melanesian world. At the heart of that vision is FLY MELA. FLY — fresh, confident, magnetic, bold. MELA — Melanesian roots, depth, strength, and heritage. Together, FLY MELA represents a generation with Melanesian roots that moves through the world with confidence, style, and authenticity. A generation that carries its culture forward rather than simply looking back. From the sounds learned at home to the studio, from the Netherlands to the world, TUTU is building a sound of his own.
