Biography & Metadata

Hailing from South Manchester, Larboonz began MC’ing at local youth clubs where he grew up in the city’s infamous Moss Side district. His versatility made him stand out from his peers and his ‘skippy flow’ soon caught the attention of well known Manchester grime collective ‘Mayhem Crew’ alongside the city’s most famous grime MC ‘Shifty’ as he became a popular figure in the local underground scene . Growing up on American rap icons like 2Pac and influenced as a young rapper himself by London MC’s such as Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Wiley and So Solid Crew, Larboonz’ own emerging style and positivity quickly caught the eye of A&R managers at the newly launched Manchester Records, who quickly sought his signature as part of a blur of recent signings. Initially following his father (a top level amateur boxer) into sport, Larboonz played basketball for highly rated Manchester Magic before the influence of his mother (herself a vocalist) won out and the rapper started writing songs on the piano. Rapidly becoming one to watch on the Manchester live scene, Larboonz’ trademark slogan KARR, meaning ‘be free’ can be frequently heard by fans at live shows where he addresses audiences with the slogan ‘flockers, fly and be free’.
