Biography & Metadata
Deep in the south of Italy lies the Salento region, where tambourines play an ancient rhythm called "Pizzica Pizzica." Since 1993, Officina Zoé has brought this ancestral rhythm of the Salento soul to the world. The group's distinctive feature is their constant pursuit of trance, induced by the obsessive rhythm of the tambourines, and their minimalism in music and singing. Deeply rooted in their tradition, Officina Zoé has developed a contemporary vision, primarily proposing new musical compositions that sing and tell the story of today's world. The band has established itself as one of the most popular Italian world music groups, with over 7,000 average listeners on Spotify, thousands of albums sold, millions of streams on YouTube, and some iconic songs (Don Pizzica, Mamma Sirena, Pizzicarella, Santu Paulu) that have each surpassed 250,000 streams. Ambassadors of pizzica and the Salento tradition around the world, with international tours in Japan, Australia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Turkey, India, Morocco, Egypt, Argentina, France, Belgium, England, Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Cyprus, and Macedonia, Officina Zoè have performed at numerous national and international festivals and venues, including Womad UK, Udaipur World Music Festival, the Liège Philharmonic Hall, the Festival des Musiques Sacrées in Fez, Babel Med, Villa Ada Festival (Rome), Stimmen Festival (Germany), and many others.
