Biography & Metadata

With Nigerian music rising to global dominance, King Perryy stands out as one of the nation’s most distinctive and ambitious young voices. The creator of what he calls the “Continental Sound,” the former seminary student and would-be Catholic priest blends the melodies and rhythms of contemporary afrobeats with pan-African influences and reggae/dancehall, crafting resonant songs that transcend borders and connect cultures. With a streak of successful singles like “Man on Duty” and “Work ‘N’ Grind,” and over 70 million streams across digital platforms, King Perryy recently released his debut album, Citizen of the World. Born Anthony Offiah in the vibrant oil city of Port Harcourth home to superstars like Burna Boy and Omah Lay King Perryy grew up immersed in music. His father introduced him to a wide palette of sounds, from the reggae legends Bob Marley and Sean Paul to Nigerian icons like Fela Kuti and Alex Zitto. Driven by a strong sense of purpose, he pursued the priesthood for four years in seminary school before redirecting his path and earning a degree in Project Management from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. Still, faith remains a grounding force in his life. It was out of this unique journey that King Perryy, the “Continental Boy,” emerged. “The Continental Sound is a fusion of different genres, lifestyles, and cultures,” he says a reflection of his identity and a testament to his mission: to make music that moves the world
