Mind the Mind This soulful debut album produced and written by Yana Liza and Olivier de Jong (Kunuku) The process started when Yana expressed that she would like to produce her own music together with Kunuku, knowing each other for a long time. This was the first time some asked Kunuku for his songwriting and producing skills since Kunuku is mainly known for his bass playing. The writing process went really fast because the two were just building the music upon unconscious decisions. Most of the songs came out of the necessity of expressing something. That something is not always clear, but if you trust in yourself and listen to your unconsciousness you will find out what your mind is telling you. The duo were inspired by artists such as Erykah Badu, Inflo, Cleo Sol, SAULT. It’s a soulful sound with touches of electronic pop and some funk sprinkled on top.
