Hailing from Navi Mumbai, Dr. Sameeksha Sarkar, better known by her stage name "Sarkar" is a composer/singer/lyricist, and a rising force in the Indie-fusion crossover space, blending heritage folk melodies with rhythm-forward production. Her viral track "Udi Udi" blends Rajasthani melodies with atmospheric Afro-pop production, and started a new wave of the "Billori" hook, which took on a life of its own, spinning off into its own trend across reels. Training in classical music since childhood, her sound has a professional grounding that's rare in the genre's current wave of indie artists. Off stage, she's also a doctor, side-questing from music into medicine, or maybe it's the other way around.
