Biography & Metadata
Raised in Los Angeles, California, Khalifah Macopson, professionally known as Khalif The Ruler and formerly King Leaf, is a creative powerhouse — a recording artist, rapper, singer, songwriter, mixing/mastering engineer, sound designer, music producer, and film composer. Music runs deep in his lineage: his grandfather was a member of The Temptations, and his mother, Lateasha, was a Motown‑signed solo artist, making his path toward music inevitable. Khalif touched his first drum set at four years old while jamming with Stevie Wonder, sparking a lifelong passion. As he grew, he taught himself to produce, write, record, mix, and master — evolving into a true one‑man creative force. His melodic instincts, emotional depth, and sonic versatility have earned him recognition as one of the most gifted emerging artists of his generation. As a producer, songwriter, and engineer, Khalif has crafted records for major artists, including producing “Save Me” by Chris Brown, and collaborating with artist like Travis $cott, B.O.B, YG, Blxst, Desiigner, Dom Kennedy, Lil B, Hit‑Boy, DJ Paul (Three 6 Mafia), Gizzle, Bobby Brown, and more. Expanding into film and television, he scored and produced music for Tyler Perry’s “Beauty In Black” (Season 2). His artistry has also earned the respect of his legendary mentor Teddy Riley, who recognizes Khalif’s rare musical genius and forward‑thinking sound.
