Biography & Metadata

Squintz is a North London grime MC, engineer and creative behind SQ MOB. Rooted in Grime his music blends sharp writing, raw storytelling and a hands-on approach to the sound. From early releases including Nuen Ain’t Gang and SQ Grime to Learn From Pain and his latest project NOT OLD OR NEW, Squintz has built a catalogue around independence, evolution and documenting real life through music. NOT OLD OR NEW is a new chapter — 15 tracks produced entirely by NJ, bringing grime, 140 and garage influences together in one project. More music, the full story, discography and more at sqmob.com. He broke through in 2019 with “Have To”, a standout release that received major support from platforms including BBC Radio 1Xtra, Complex and GRM Daily. Since then, he has continued to release strong, self-directed projects, refining his sound while resisting easy categorisation. His work has taken him across the UK and beyond, with radio play nationwide, performances in Barcelona, festival appearances, and sets spanning Bristol to London, including venues such as KOKO Camden. Along the way, he has collaborated with and received support from respected figures across the grime scene, including JME, Scrufizzer, Jammer, Kruz Leone, and DJ AG, among others. Operating independently, Squintz remains focused on longevity over trend, using music as both documentation and discipline.
