Freeman Gumede

Born in the rural town of Dududu and raised in KwaMashu, Durban. Freeman Gumede is a South African musician, singer, and bassist whose artistry blends soulful expression with technical finesse. His musical foundation was formed in the church through choirs and vocal groups, nurturing a deep connection to melody and harmony. At sixteen, discovering the bass guitar became a defining moment, shaping his musical identity and leading to collaborations with artists across South Africa and beyond. After high school, he committed fully to music, developing his craft as both a performer and creative collaborator. In 2022, Freeman relocated to Johannesburg, expanding his creative reach while building a strong online presence through bass and vocal covers. This growth led to the release of his debut EP—an authentic project showcasing his songwriting, vocals, and versatility, created alongside talented producers and musicians. A University of KwaZulu-Natal Bachelor of Music graduate, Freeman Gumede has worked with respected artists including Brenda Mtambo, MK Productions, Mnqobi Yazo, Easy Freak, Nontokozo Mkhize, Joyous Celebration, Sibusiso Mashiloane, Swazi Dlamini, Cici, Tellaman, Lastee, Beast Rsa and Moneoa just to name a few.
