The 7:45s

The 7:45s are an original soul collective from Manchester on a mission to produce the perfect single. The brainchild of songwriter and bassist Sam Flynn, The 7:45s are inspired by the house bands of soul labels from Motown to Big Crown. The young collective feature some of the finest musicians on the Manchester scene, spotlighting guest vocalists such as Martin Connor and Yemi Bolatiwa backed by horns, harmonies and a tight rhythm section. Named after 7-inch vinyl, The 7:45s write snappy singles influenced by soul, funk and disco. They blend the vintage sound of rare groove with the songcraft of perfect pop – then add autobiographical lyrics and rhythmic twists. In summer 2022, The 7:45s tracked 17 songs in 3 days live at the vintage studio EVE in Stockport. Now 12 of the 17 songs have been played on BBC Radio 6 Music by DJs such as Deb Grant and Chris Hawkins. BBC Radio 2 played ‘I Want You, Say You’re Mine’. DJ Spoony said “I love it! You’re gunna love it!”. The 7:45s have performed live on BBC Radio 4. Host Stuart Maconie said "That was fantastic!". The 7:45s released their debut album Spinning on Vinyl and CD through LRK Records in June 2025. 'Spinning' received rave reviews. Craig Charles named it “One of the top albums of the year” while Clash Magazine called it an “Outstanding debut album". Deluxe album Spin Off, which features 9 new tracks, is available now on CD. The 7:45s have also released two vinyl 45s.
