DeDe Lopez

DeDe Lopez is one of Sweden’s first female rappers, as well as a singer, songwriter and DJ, with a career spanning more than three decades. She released her first single, “My Crush,” in 1993. After signing with Dutch label Sly Records, she signed with Sony Music Sweden in 1994. Her breakthrough came with “Party” (1995), launching her international career and earning Gold status in Japan. She followed with major hits “My Lover” and “Get to You,” created with the renowned Swedish songwriting team behind the Cheiron era. “My Lover” was co-written by Denise ”DeDe” Lopez, Max Martin, Per Magnusson, David Kreuger and Kristian Lundin. DeDe has worked with names including Max Martin, Andreas Carlsson, Anders Bagge, Derek Bramble, Herbie Crichlow, Father MC, Pras Michel and MC Lyte. She has released five full-length albums and sold more than 500,000 albums worldwide. Her international career includes opening for Michael Jackson at Ullevi in Gothenburg in 1997 and 50 Cent in Helsinki in 2008, together with Pras Michel of The Fugees, as well as performing for 100,000 people at Tokyo Dome. Still active, DeDe continues to write, create and release her own music across pop, hip-hop, R&B, dance and electronic music. “Universal Law” (2025) was nominated for Best EDM at the Hollywood Independent Music Awards. In spring 2026, she released her memoir “Jag lever för dig.” New original music is coming in 2027.
