Maukele Roots

Hawaii-rooted Maukele Roots finds trust in the earth — country gospel, blues, folk, Celtic, Latin, even heavy metal. All paths home. Maukele Roots is one of five sister projects from Maukele Music, a Hawaii-rooted independent label dedicated to music as a path — inward, earthward, sacred, cultural, and communal. This project holds the earthward path: the honest, often difficult work of learning to trust — the land, the body, other people, and yourself. The catalog maps the full emotional terrain of that struggle. Every Blade of Grace and Keepers of the Soil bring a country gospel warmth to faith and the tended land. You Are Water in the Desert and After Thought move through blues roots with the patience that only grief earns. Across a Golden Bridge and Whisper of the Stones carry an acoustic folk stillness. The Threshold weaves Spanish and English into Latin singer-songwriter territory. Rivers Whisper leans into earthy country-folk. Celtic energy moves through In Every Step. And Flight of the Banshee arrives as full heavy metal — because sometimes the ground shakes before it holds. The unifying force is the Aloha spirit: the Hawaiian conviction that the earth and the people who walk it are connected, and that honest music honors that connection whatever genre it arrives in. Based in Virginia.
