Chronochromie

Chronochromie is a Montréal-based math prog metal band formed in 2022, merging contemporary compositional thinking with the visceral force of metal. Led by two contemporary classical composers and guitarists Alexandre David and Jonah Koikaran, drummer / visual artist Samuel David, harsh vocalist Patrick Goyette and bassist Dave Tremblay, the project blurs aesthetic boundaries through complex rhythms, non-cyclical forms, and unconventional harmonic language. Drawing influences from progressive metal, classic prog rock, jazz fusion, djent, and classical music, the band develops long-form compositions conceived as continuous journeys rather than isolated songs. Their music engages with existential themes inspired by nature and space, exploring transformation, scale, and the perception of time within natural and cosmic systems. Chronochromie’s debut EP EPOCH (2023) was described by PAN M 360 as “a sound as heavy as it is cerebral, uncompromising in its complexity.” On stage, Chronochromie delivers immersive audiovisual performances featuring ambient transitions, synchronized visuals, and a continuous narrative flow, extending the band’s sonic identity into a cohesive visual experience.
