Biography & Metadata
From Leeds, UK, Lozenge place layers of distorted guitars and whispered vocals on top of a muscular rhythm section in songs that explore themes of alienation and personal identity. With Everything, Lozenge show a growing maturity, with more complex arrangements, heavier themes, and more space to breathe. ā On the title track, the band makes their biggest swing yet, decrying the weight of modern living with a huge chorus that's both overpowering and inevitable. Collinson considers how deeply capitalism and currency is embedded into our society as the band floats around a black hole, before passing over the inescapable event horizon. Doom seems assured. "Everything is about realising how totally money is ingrained into every facet of society, and how powerless that can make you feel sometimes. I wrote this at time when I was cosmically overwhelmed by the world and felt like I could see my life flashing before me."
