Nathi MaQ

Nathi MaQ, born Nkosinathi Maqanda, is a South African producer, DJ, filmmaker, and fashion designer from Krugersdorp, raised in Kagiso on Johannesburg’s West Rand. Known for his innovative blend of 3-Step and Afro House, he draws inspiration from township culture, rhythm, and storytelling. A graduate of the University of Johannesburg with a law degree, Nathi also trained at the Duma Ndlovu Acting Academy (Class of 2018), where he developed skills in directing, acting, and scriptwriting. He independently shoots and directs his own visuals, including the music video for “Abangani.” Since emerging as Nathi MaQ, he has released notable singles including “Abangani,” “Ngiyahluleka,” and “Embo,” establishing himself as a rising creative force in South Africa’s urban music scene.
