Biography & Metadata
Tamar Berk crafts emotionally raw indie rock and alt-pop that blends fuzzed-out guitars, dreamy textures, and lyrics that linger like a thought you can’t shake. It’s a soundtrack for those moments when your mind is spiraling, the lights feel too bright, and you’re trying to find meaning in the mess. Moody, melodic, and wired with quiet intensity. Raised on classical piano and early Disney soundtracks, she later found inspiration in the Beatles, David Bowie, Liz Phair, and Elliott Smith—artists who shaped her instinct for melody and emotional truth. Fiercely independent, Berk writes, records, and produces her own music, channeling inner chaos into songs that explore identity, obsession, and the strange beauty of overthinking. After years in the Chicago, Portland, and San Diego scenes, she launched a solo career grounded in DIY grit. Her albums The Restless Dreams of Youth, Start at the End, Tiny Injuries, Good Times for a Change, and most recent release OCD have earned praise and features from SPIN, KCRW, FADER, CREEM, and SHINDIG, along with San Diego Music Award nominations, NACC college radio charting, and Apple Music editorial support. Her collaborators include Matt Walker (Morrissey, Garbage), Sean O’Keefe (Beach Bunny, Motion City Soundtrack), and Matt Thomson (Maita, The Hague). Her fifth and latest album, OCD, is a reverb-soaked deep dive into looping thoughts, emotional unraveling, and the patterns we can’t escape—her boldest and most immersive work yet.
