imKENNETHY

The imKENNETHY project tells a story of ongoing self-actualization – testing the boundaries of what makes you "you." A first-generation Taiwanese American that grew up in the Chicago suburbs listening to Kanye West, Chance the Rapper, and Chief Keef on local radio stations, who moved to Southern California, where his college town of Isla Vista was captured by his old-school rap flows, sample chops, and eclectic production. In Isla Vista, his single Paris & bodies of work such as Serendipity in 2023 became local classics. He followed it up with the If Only In Plain Sight EP in 2024, featuring tracks with an ear-candy quality that combined the groovy, upbeat production styles of Kaytranada, Channel Tres, and Anderson Paak with 90s style lyrical rap flows. In 2025, imKENNETHY has been gaining buzz for his upcoming album, CALIFORNIASIAN with teaser singles such as Californiasian and She Wanna Fly. With this project, the Taiwanese-American MC is on a mission to bring more representation of the AAPI experience to hip hop and speak honestly on issues that promote unity within all communities.
