Biography & Metadata

In an industry deemed unpredictable, Joe Flizzow seems to have the Midas touch when it comes to expanding his career and variegating his persona. From his early days as one half of the legendary rap duo Too Phat, he has evolved through the years to become the country’s number one rapper. Add producer, songwriter and entrepreneur to the mix and you have someone who isn’t content to let the grass grow beneath his feet. His solo debut The President took home the award for Best Local English Album at the 2009 AIM. He repeated that success story with the Malay language album Havoc in 2013, which earned the number one spot on Malaysia’s iTunes chart. Till today, it is constantly on the top three spots for hip hop. A single from Havoc, Apa Khabar then snagged the award for Best Hip Hop Song at the 2014 AIM, historically making it the first in that genre to win Song of the Year at the 29- year-old local song competition, Anugerah Juara Lagu. The biggest dream fulfilled to date for Joe was attending a prestigious Ivy League Institution when the Malaysian Film Development Corporation (Finas) sponsored his enrollment to the Harvard Business School Executive Education Course for Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports. It looks like there is no stopping Joe. If his past is any indication of his future, his search for the next big thing will not be ending soon. Yes, Budak Baek is certainly walking his talk…
