Biography & Metadata

A Francophone singer/songwriter of Haitian descent, Joé Dwet Filé makes warm seductive pop at the intersection of kompa, zouk, and Afro-Caribbean R&B. After establishing himself with early releases like #ESOLF and À Deux, Filé broke into the French mainstream with 2021's "Jolie Madame," a Top Ten single featuring Ronisia. The song anchored his sophomore album, Calypso, and built momentum for "4 Kampé" the 2024 global smash that became his biggest hit to date. Originally released as a standalone single, Filé later rolled it into his fourth album, 2026's HateLove. Born in Paris, France, to Haitian parents, Joé Gilles grew up listening to a mix of zouk and kompa music, while singing in his local church. By his teenage years, he was already advancing into production, songwriting, and engineering for other artists in the Afro-Caribbean scene like Vegedream and Stony. Using the name Joé Dwet Filé, he launched a solo career with #ESOLF, a 2018 mixtape that charted respectably in France. Filé's star was on the rise with À Deux, his 2019 debut album, but it was the release of "Jolie Madame" in 2021 that elevated him to hitmaker status. A duet with another rising star, Ronisia, the song helped his second album, Calypso, reach number four. Now a commercially viable act with a strong streaming presence in the Afro-Caribbean and French pop worlds, he released his third album, Daddy 9, in 2023. Though less successful than its predecessor, Filé returned to the charts a year later with the lush and dynamic "4 Kampé," a song that became a global streaming hit. Another mixtape, Goumin, appeared that same year, and in 2025, he landed another hit with the Aya Nakamura collaboration "Baddies." Fourth album HateLove appeared in 2026, debuting at number four in France. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
