Biography & Metadata
Houston indie duo Wails first emerged in 2010 with their self-titled debut EP, praised as "one hell of a debut" (Space City Rock) with "a surprising knack for neatly packing a stadium-ready sound into the core of each song" (Houston Press). Originally a trio, the band stripped down to a two-piece in 2011, following it up with the release of their 2Sides EP in 2012. During a subsequent hiatus from the Wails moniker, Bruno and Dustin kept their creative partnership alive, exploring folk textures through their project Where O in 2018. The duo eventually returned to the studio to push Wails into new sonic territory. Written in bursts over several years, their 2025 EP Lost & Found navigates the messy, beautiful parts of being human, exploring life’s absurdities with a light-hearted touch. They kept the momentum going into 2026 with a reimagined version of their track Dead Metaphor. Balancing raw live energy with a polished studio sound, Wails’ music is an atmospheric, distorted layering of dream pop, shoegaze, noise rock, and jangle-drone. Drawing comparisons to my bloody valentine, The Jesus and Mary Chain and Beach House their sound has been dubbed a "beautiful wall of drama" (Austin Town Hall). Over the years, they've earned accolades opening for acts including Manchester Orchestra, Miniature Tigers, The Elected and Geographer
