Biography & Metadata

I’ve walked through storms with songs in my chest—melodies shaped by struggle, verses baptized in truth. Born from the roots of North Minneapolis, I carry the voices of my ancestors in my breath, the rhythm of resistance in my hands. A modern-day Griot, I don’t just make music—I remember through rhythm. I heal through harmony. Every bar is a confession. Every beat, a heartbeat. I’ve known pain like a second skin—watched dreams flicker in dark rooms, battled silence with sound. But still, I rose. Still, I create. My art is forged in faith and fire, blending spirit and storytelling, drumming and divine timing. You can hear the streets I come from in my cadence, feel my grandmother’s prayers in my lyrics, see my people’s power in every poem. This is soulwork. Kingdom work. I make music for the misfits, the faithful fighters, the broken-becoming-whole. My sound is a sanctuary for those who’ve wept in secret and danced in defiance. I’m not here to entertain. I’m here to awaken. If you’re listening, you’re part of this. Breathe with me. Believe with me. Become with me. — Brotha Ase
