Biography & Metadata
Shame Motel make late-night indie pop and synth-pop for people who like glossy choruses, badly lit romance and emotional damage you can almost dance to. Drawing from indie pop, synth-pop, alternative pop and occasional indie dance, the project sits somewhere near the after-hours glow of Phoenix Hot Chip MGMT The 1975 Metronomy Twenty One Pilots and Nation of Language of Language, but with a darker, more self-deprecating sense of humour. Bad lighting. Good hooks. Questionable feelings. Its debut album, The Things We Don’t Call Love, explores affection hidden inside jokes, desire interrupted by fear, grief without recognition, and the habits built to avoid being fully seen. Sharp, intimate, and emotionally controlled, it is a record about movement instead of confession, posture instead of clarity, and all the feelings that remain unnamed but never quite disappear.
