Biography & Metadata

Daniel “D Smoke” Farris is a three-time GRAMMY-nominated musician, actor, and author. Smoke gained global notoriety in 2019 as champion and undisputed breakout star of Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow by showcasing his authenticity, lyricism, and diverse musicality. His initial offering after the show, Inglewood High EP, hit the Billboard Heatseekers and Independent Charts - landing at #3. His debut full-length album, Black Habits, boasts features from Snoop Dogg, Jill Scott, Ari Lennox, his brothers SiR and Davion Farris, and mother, Jackie Gouché. The album’s critical acclaim earned a 2021 GRAMMY-nomination for Best Rap Album, and he received a second 2021 GRAMMY-nomination, Best New Artist. Smoke also received a NAACP Image Award Nomination for Outstanding New Artist. He released his second album War & Wonders in 2021, spotlighting Inglewood’s internal wars, being in love, and battling self when divergent forks in the road appear while on the continuous journey of learning, self-discovery, and evolution. Guest features include John Legend, Ty Dolla $ign, Fireboy DML, and others. In the midst of lending his creative prowess to various music features and numerous GRAMMY-nominated projects between his own albums, Smoke earned his third GRAMMY-nomination with Robert Glasper’s Shine ft. Tiffany Gouché.
