’False Impressions’ is the debut single from Kavi Kwai - a project which began in a house on a remote island in Sweden. Each song, written one after the other, uses vocal harmonies as the foundation upon which they are built. Kavi Kwai is Julia Ringdahl, a Swedish musician and producer who wrote, produced and mixed ‘False Impressions’ - a song that is the first glimpse into the artist’s beautiful and complex world. Julia is also a member of Hey Elbow and a longtime collaborator of Alice Boman. Julia on the track and the video: I watched a lot of abstract, geometric films by artists like Hans Richter Mary Ellen Bute and Oskar Fischinger when I wrote and recorded ”False Impressions”. So it was natural for me to use graphic elements in the video when I made it, since it was such a big inspiration in the songwriting process. The dancers in the video symbolize community, but also an inner conflict. The conflict between what you want to do and what you should do. And that’s what ”False Impressions” is about.
