Biography & Metadata

Robert "Meek Mill" Williams is a Grammy-nominated recording artist, entrepreneur, and criminal justice reform advocate from Philadelphia. Mill evolved from one of the city's hottest underground rappers to one of the world's preeminent musical artists, releasing a slew of smash albums and singles, including "Ima Boss," "Dreams and Nightmares (Intro)," "All Eyes on You," and "Going Bad," among others. He is also the co-chair of the REFORM Alliance, launched in January 2019 to advance criminal justice reform and eradicate outdated policies that perpetuate injustice in the United States. He partnered with JAY-Z, Michael Rubin, Robert Kraft, Robert F. Smith, Clara Wu Tsai, Laura Arnold, Michael Novogratz and Van Jones to launch the organization. Mill's last incarceration in November 2017 spurred the international #FreeMeekMill movement, which resulted in his release on bail in April 2018 and eventually led to his original conviction being overturned. Through it all, he has used his public platform to generate awareness around problems within the criminal justice system and highlight how they disproportionately affect multicultural communities. Beyond his work in criminal justice, Mill is an accomplished entrepreneur, having founded his record label Dream Chasers in 2012. Mill is also a co-owner of sports apparel retailer Lids, the largest seller of hats and licensed sports products in North America, and Philadelphia-based lifestyle brand Mitchell & Ness.
