The Presets

The Presets took shape in 2003 when Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes met at Sydney’s Conservatorium of Music. They were quickly recognised for their ability to fuse dance music elements with an energy more akin to rock. After signing with Modular Recordings, the band released two EPs and an album Beams (2005). 2008’s chart topping Apocalypso featured the classic ‘My People’ and blazed new trails for Australian dance music. Kim and Julian won Album of the Year at the ARIAs, FBI SMAC and J Awards and were named the coveted APRA Songwriters of The Year. Pacifica followed featuring Rolling Stone Magazine’s Song Of 2012, ‘Ghosts’. In 2018, the band’s fourth album HI VIZ debuted #1 on iTunes and spawned triple j Hottest 100 favourites “Do What You Want” and “Martini”. Recognised worldwide for their dynamic live performances, The Presets have played hundreds of shows domestically and internationally, including key slots at renowned music festivals like Glastonbury and Coachella. In 2023 to celebrate 20 years of making beats together, The Presets played 20 sold out club shows around Australia, reconnecting with the electric spirit that got them making music in the first place. In addition to their work together Julian has guested with artists including Flight Facilities and Steve Angello as well as scoring pieces for the Sydney Dance Company. Kim is a prominent DJ, produced albums for artists like DMA’s, Northeast Party House and co-owns buzzing EDM indie label Here To Hell.
