Samuel Nicholson

Samuel Nicholson is a Scottish artist from Edinburgh. On his 2023 album Birthday Suit, Nicholson crafted a personal and often sweet telling of falling in love while working through his recent Autism diagnosis. The record gave way to sold-out shows including at The Lexington (London) and King Tuts, international performances (including at LOTD, Rotterdam) and supporting Fatherson at their sold-out Barrowlands show. Nicholson's live shows have quickly built a reputation for transcending the ordinary. Since then, events in Nicholson’s life forced a fundamental reassessment of his craft, and where songwriting had traditionally offered a means of cathartic excavation and, ultimately, hope, this time the process worked away at a concealed and deeper form of grief. The result was a deliberate act of creative self-destruction which found Nicholson abandoning the expectations of singer-songwriter conventions, instead building a heavier and at times uncomfortably intense sonic world.
