Ostinàti

The Ostinati are an Ibleo quintet born from the collaboration between musicians from different musical backgrounds, but which flow together towards jazz music. They were born as performers of tribute tracks dedicated to the masters of American jazz of the funk / rock fusion period such as Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Marcus Miller, Mike Stern, Wayne Shorter and others. With the desire and the obstinacy to take a step forward, in 2019, the band embarked on a change of course towards original music, with compositions by saxophonist Sergio Battaglia, whose arrangements were curated together with the rest of the band. The songs are tributes to Sicily, which describe in music the picturesque landscapes of this territory. The music of the Ostinati, ranges from Progressive Jazz, passing, eclectically, to Fusion, Smooth Jazz with a few sprinkles of Rock Blues and becomes a pretext to share different improvisational strategies, which move freely, within sometimes complex but full structures. of groove. Line-up: • Sergio Battaglia - saxophone/composer • Riccardo Drago - guitar • Carmelo Rendo - keyboards • Adriano Denaro - bass • Giovanni Cataldi - drums
