Gary Afterlife

Sydney based DJ & Producer Gary Afterlife (Shane Stapylton) began his musical adventure learning to play the Piano & Drums for many years. This passion was also fueled by the influence of a local community radio station playing underground dance music back in 2000. Moving the dial through static, sounds of Rave and House music could be heard. Getting a taste of these new underground styles stirred up a passion, and he began to experiment with sounds of his own. The inspiration continued to flow from attending underground raves and events where the scene was thriving. Experiencing the culture to the music this opened the door to djing & he began collecting vinyl. Shane began producing Rave music under the alias of ‘ElectriX’ and had his very first vinyl pressed and released on Executive records in 2004. This was just the beginning to the journey, as Shane began exploring other genres immersing himself in the styles of Trance & Progressive House. It was then the new alias of ‘Gary Afterlife’ was born and here to stay. His first EP release was on the prominent label Abora Recordings getting an official remix from trance legend Mike Foyle. Releases continue to this day on a variety of different labels receiving support from Above & Beyond, Solarstone, Kyau & Albert, Nora Van Elken, Chill Nation, Markus Schulz, Koelle, Roger Shah, Matt Fax, Paul van Dyk, & Garys good friends at The Grand Sound.
