Shock Contender

UK-based Soul, Jazz-Funk, and Fusion artist Shock Contender, fronted by visionary bassist and vocalist Lee Tavender. Heavily influenced by early British funk groups like Jamiroquai and Level 42, the sound can also be compared to Japanese Fusion and City-Pop references, including Casiopea, T-Square, and Toshiki Kadomatsu. Featuring soulful vocals influenced by Stevie Wonder, Michael McDonald and Daryl Hall; the groove-driven songwriting is largely inspired by Earth, Wind & Fire, Toto, and classic AOR/West Coast records. This latest project is entirely written, recorded, produced, and performed solo, combining live-feel instrumentation with melodic synth work and deep pocket slap basslines at the forefront. The new album out now - Enjoy The Ride!
