Biography & Metadata
In 2009, three Londoners with a shared love of the city's ever evolving electronic scene came together as Dark Sky: Matt Benyayer, Tom Edwards and Carlo Anderson. As a trio they shaped the project's early sound, releasing their first EP on Black Acre Records, before going on to put out a run of EPs for labels including 50 Weapons, Tectonic and Pictures Music, and releasing remixes for The xx, Kelis and Bombay Bicycle Club. In August 2014 they released their debut album 'imagin.' on Modeselektor's Monkeytown Records, a soul laced, percussion driven record that grew into a hybrid live show. The trio toured it widely, playing Glastonbury, Worldwide, Warehouse Project, Sub Club, Melt, DGTL among others. Carlo left the group shortly after, and Dark Sky continued as a duo of Benyayer and Edwards for the second album, 'Othona', released on Monkeytown in 2017, pushing into deeper, darker, more dance-floor focused territory. From 2019 Dark Sky continued as the solo project of founding member Matt Benyayer, trading the earlier live percussion setup for a more hardware led, club oriented show. Benyayer later stepped away from the Dark Sky name to record under his own name, though the catalogue and legacy remain closely tied to the project's roots.
