Biography & Metadata
A thoughtful songwriter with a booming voice and East Tennessee roots, Thomas has never done things the usual way. He moved from Knoxville to Nashville in 2004 to write songs, grew disillusioned with the industry, and walked away for over a decade to raise a family and build a business. "I was naive and learned some tough lessons in those early days." A chance meeting with producer Tres Sasser in 2019 brought him back, and the two have since made three albums together – “Three Reasons” (2020), “Diamonds” (2023) & “Echoes” (2026). When Hurricane Helene devastated Western North Carolina and East Tennessee, a region his family has called home for generations, Thomas wrote "Hell in High Water." "I was heartbroken for my people," he says. "I had to write something." Released without promotion, the song went viral within 48 hours and surpassed 100 million views on TikTok. He chose to donate streaming royalties from the song to flood relief efforts. That song planted the seed for "Echoes" (2026), a concept record following a husband and father through devastating loss and back toward faith, love, and home. MusicRow Magazine called Echoes “a sweeping musical journey rooted in authentic storytelling.” Thomas' work has received praise from Wide Open Country, Saving Country Music, The Bluegrass Situation, The Boot, and more. He's drawn comparisons to Rodney Crowell, Tom Petty, Joe Ely, Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt and several of his songs have been featured on CBS and NBC.
