Biography & Metadata
Chassol is a French composer, musician and film director known for his signature “Ultrascore” method — a compositional approach that harmonizes found sounds, speech and ambient environments into fully scored pieces. The result sits at the intersection of ambient jazz, alter jazz and experimental music, designed as much for deep listening as for the stage. His albums — including Big Sun, Ultrascores, Ludi and the new Funny How? — combine acoustic precision, electronic texture and field-recording depth, rooted in the jazz tradition but drawing freely from world music, spiritual jazz and electronic production. He has also collaborated with a wide range of international artists, including Frank Ocean. Solange, Xavier Veilhan, Sophie Calle, Phoenix, Sébastien Tellier, Jon Batiste and many more Currently on the Funny How? tour — with upcoming dates at Paris’s Folies Bergère (Nov 30, 2026), Lyon National Opera (Jan 2027) and festivals across France, Switzerland and Belgium — Chassol continues to develop a live practice as cinematic as his recordings.
