Biography & Metadata
Mark Ryan Myers (Southern States, Boys for Life, The Soundtrack) and Brandon Hilkert (The Solitary System, Dating, Rarae Avis) met in the early 2000s, playing in separate punk, emo and post rock bands in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. After years of road tripping between Richmond Virginia and Wilmington Delaware to hang out and (more often than not) record some songs, they both found themselves living in the Los Angeles area. The two finally began writing songs for a new project which would ultimately be called Hi Low. Influenced by the early records from Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab for Cutie, The Get Up Kids, The All-American Rejects, Saves The Day, The Appleseed Cast etc. This duo employs a wide mix of sampled and recorded instruments and sounds. They create catchy tunes that blur the lines between Indie Rock, Emo and beats that sometimes feel ripped from your older brother’s favorite House CD. Frequently trading verses and layering vocal harmonies, these two produce a steady stream of catchy melodies in bittersweet Indie Pop style.
