Melo Gía

Patricia “Melo Gía” Lewis is a Puerto Rican and African-American artist whose music is a reflection of identity, resilience, and cultural memory. Born to a Puerto Rican mother and an African-American father from Philadelphia, Melo Gía has set out on a journey to create a sound that fully embodies who she is—rooted in her heritage and shaped by lived experience. Her music blends poetic, Latin bohemian lyricism with soulful depth and strong jazz influences, forming what she describes as Latin Bohemian Soul. Sung in English and Spanish, her songs move fluidly across cultures and emotions, telling stories of love, loss, displacement, and the search for belonging. Growing up in Puerto Rico, Melo Gía’s life was deeply impacted by Hurricane María in 2017, which forced her to relocate to New York and begin again as a climate refugee. This experience profoundly shaped her artistry, informing music that explores displacement, healing, friendship, purpose, and the challenge of rebuilding a sense of home. Alongside deeply personal narratives, she consistently uses her platform to speak out and educate about Puerto Rico’s ongoing colonial struggle. With a clean, melodic voice, a broad vocal range, and a gift for translating emotion into song, Melo Gía creates music that feels both intimate and expansive.
