Biography & Metadata

Born Aluwani Silas Thovhakale in Thohoyandou, Limpopo, the solo artist H' & Them leads an experimental approach, an ever-evolving chimera, evading categorization. Home In A Bit, released on 10/May/23. The Alt-Afro Indie album blends Melancholic Indie-Folk, Alt-R&B and Lofi to articulate the homesickness inflicted by the loss of his younger brother. HIAB's offbeat sonic tapestry, conceptual coherence and brevity propelled it into the Top 10 Apple Music Alt Charts, making it his first album to chart. H’ & Them + phatu (fka Jazz the Man) are the Alternative Rap duo H’ & JAZZ. For their first LP, H' & JAZZ, Vol. 2, b. 8/Dec/2023, they called JAYSTEEZE, who worked closely with phathu to carve the haunting, gritty-soulful soundscape that fits the thought-provoking lyrics like a glove. It embraces the raw to articulate playfully and elegantly a Nasty that transcends language boundaries. People who can’t understand a whiff of Tshivenda pull a stank face when these songs play! They don't know what it is, but it's a Nasty. A Bold & Uglyful. Volume 2 is for the celebration but, more importantly, the advancement of Venda Rap lyrically and sonically. low-q shorts, released on 25/Nov/22, is best appreciated as abstract poetic sketches that scroll through episodes of the rapper’s grief, solitude, survivor's remorse, and hunger for consolation without being overly vulnerable.
