Marzouk Mejri

Marzouk Mejri is a symbol of the fusion between North African and Mediterranean traditions, and a cultural activist who uses music to create bridges between cultures and generations, exploring themes of love, belonging and nostalgia. Marzouk Mejri is a Tunisian musician, singer and composer, specialized in percussion instruments (bendir, darbouka, tar) but also nay and zokra and known for his contribution to the traditional and contemporary music of his country. He combines elements of traditional Tunisian music with modern influences, creating a bridge between the ancient traditions of the Maghreb and global sounds. Born in Tebourba, and raised in a family of musicians, his father was a percussionist in a traditional band, Marzouk inherited the love for Tunisian music, and enriched it with modern influences and cultural contaminations. In 1994, Mejri moved to Naples, where he began to collaborate with internationally renowned Italian artists such as Daniele Sepe, James Senese, Peppe Barra, Peppino di Capri, La Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare, 99 Posse.
