DJ Bhaksi

Khanya Hlengwa, known professionally as DJ Bhaksi, is a rising South African musical artist and producer born in Umlazi. His journey in music began at a young age, but it was in 2022 that he decided to start uploading his work for the world to hear. The stage name “DJ Bhaksi” carries deep personal meaning for him. It was inspired by his late father, Banele Sikundla (Bhaksi), who affectionately called him by that name. To honor his father’s memory, Khanya chose to continue with the name and build his musical career around it. Khanya’s first steps in music were alongside Samukelo Cebekhulu (Lina Milano), who was focused on hip hop, while Khanya leaned more toward gqom and amapiano. His early gqom journey began with Sphamandla, the brother of his friend Asanda Nsele, in 2022. Later, he continued working with Prince Gabela (Prince Olumor), who became an important mentor and collaborator. Together, they have composed and produced many songs to this day. Today, DJ Bhaksi continues to push his creative boundaries, working with fellow artists and producers while steadily building his name in the South African music scene. His journey is a testament to dedication, resilience, and the power of honoring one’s roots through music.
