While contemporary sweet soul continues to gain momentum worldwide, it’s worth remembering the artists who helped lay its modern foundation. Pratt & Moody have quietly become central figures in the lowrider soul revival. Looking at the enduring success of Lost Lost Lost and the comments continuously mistaking it for some old school forgotten lowrider classic, you know that these two Finnish gentlemen were after something golden. Released on the Stylart subsidiary of Timmion Records, this single went out to become one of the defining works in the style. The songs were written and performed together with Timmion house band Cold Diamond & Mink, who have worked their magic behind class acts such as Carlton Jumel Smith, Thee Baby Cuffs as well as Bobby Oroza, who released his acclaimed debut album on the Big Crown label from New York. Pratt & Moody are Tuomo Prättälä and Markus Nordenstreng, neither of whom are strangers to singing, songwriting or playing instruments in jazz, soul or rock circles in Finland and the world. Recently they have performed under the contemporary americana duo Tuomo & Markus. The sweet soul thing is not reaching too far from home since Tuomo has worked on soul and r&b as a solo artist for over 10 years already, dating back to his debut single Don't Take It Too Hard; from 2007. Markus has also three solo albums under his belt and has also collaborated with artists and groups such as Kris Kristoffersson, Wayne Kramer, Levon Helm and Wilco.
