Biography & Metadata

Bajune Tobeta is a Tokyo-based composer, producer, and sonic researcher whose work spans film scores, experimental electronics, jazz, ambient, and the emerging field of restorative sound design. A protégé of the late Ryuichi Sakamoto, Tobeta has collaborated with artists including Christian Fennesz, Arto Lindsay, Takako Onuki, Yukihiro Takahashi (YMO), CHARA, Jaques & Paula Morelenbaum, and Nicola Conte. His compositions have been featured in major motion pictures, television, and commercial campaigns across Japan and internationally. With over three decades of practice at the intersection of acoustic science and musical art, Tobeta's recent work explores how sound frequencies, spatial acoustics, and carefully designed sonic environments can influence sleep, cognition, and well-being — a philosophy he calls "Sonic Intelligence." His catalog bridges seemingly distant worlds: the sophistication of bossa nova and jazz, the contemplative depth of solo piano, the textural intensity of noise and electronica, and the functional precision of sound designed for healing and rest. Across all of these, a single thread persists — the pursuit of intelligence and stillness through sound.
