Melody Federer

Melody Federer, known as “The Songcatcher” for her ability to create songs on the fly—often inspired by audience members and their stories—is a Texas-born singer-songwriter with an adventurous spirit and innate sense of wonder. Her journey has taken her through New York, Los Angeles, Seattle and Paris, where she lived and busked on the streets, before ultimately bringing her to Nashville. With deep roots in country and Americana, her musical world expands into jazz, pop, indie and alt-rock. Federer has written and worked with an eclectic range of artists including P!nk, Michael Bublé, Kelly Rowland, Katherine Foster, Braden Hull, Pia Toscano and Ashley Walls. Among her most meaningful collaborations was with legendary composer Burt Bacharach, with whom she wrote multiple songs, including “Bridges” and “The Sun Also Rises.” Now signed to Nashville’s Melody Place, Federer continues writing for other artists while creating music of her own. Her recent “The Day Dolly Died” is a heartfelt tribute to an icon and the lasting power of a song. Next is “Blanket Capes,” her collaboration with Bacharach about childhood wonder, hope and believing we can change the world. Federer is always listening for the extraordinary hiding inside the ordinary.
