KING CANGIN

KING CANGIN is a Brooklyn rapper whose sound blends 90s East Coast grit, spiritual reflection, and sharp storytelling. Born and raised in Bensonhurst, his music captures the energy, diversity, and raw authenticity of his neighborhood. His journey took him far beyond Brooklyn, leading him to Thailand, where he taught English to Buddhist monks. That experience added a global, introspective layer to his lyricism — balancing street-level realism with a meditative, elevated perspective. With a Master’s degree in History and the musical legacy of his grandfather Frank Cangin, a beloved Bensonhurst singer of the ’70s and ’80s, KING CANGIN creates music rooted in culture, intention, and growth. Outside of music, Jon is an educator, activist, and culinary enthusiast, channeling creativity into every part of his life. His work bridges the worlds of Brooklyn and Chiang Mai, blending wisdom, grit, and evolution into a voice uniquely his own.
