Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra

The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra has been making music in the heart of Gothenburg since 1905. Based at Gothenburg Concert Hall, 109 musicians perform everything from major symphonic works and Nordic repertoire to contemporary music, new interpretations and unexpected collaborations. Over more than a century, conductors including Wilhelm Stenhammar, Neeme Järvi and Gustavo Dudamel have helped shape the orchestra’s distinctive sound. In 1996, it was named the National Orchestra of Sweden. Today, the orchestra brings together tradition, curiosity and artistic ambition, creating music that can be powerful, intimate, familiar or completely new.
