Amaia

Determined to make it in show business, Spanish singer Amaia Romero (Pamplona, 1999) began attending casting calls and entering contests while still in her teenage years. Her big break arrived in 2017, when she made the cut for Operación Triunfo, Spain's foremost talent show. A big favorite with the jury and audience, Amaia was crowned the season's winner in January 2018. Furthermore, her duet with Alfred García, "Tu Canción," was chosen to represent Spain at Eurovision 2018. Several hit singles and collaborations paved the way for her debut album, Pero No Pasa Nada (2019), an archetypal collection of Spanish pop and ballads. Her sophomore effort, Cuando No Sé Quién Soy (2022), opted instead for an electro-pop, contemporary feel. Also a budding actress, she could be seen among the cast of the acclaimed TV miniseries The Messiah in 2023. The more personal Si Abro Los Ojos No Es Real, her third studio offering, appeared in early 2025 and was lauded as her most accomplished set to date. ~ Mariano Prunes, Rovi
